| Heat
In
the kitchen, you can be burned or scalded when you are:
- cooking
food;
- removing
food from cooktops, ovens, deep fryers, grillers, etc; and
- making
hot drinks using steam or equipment such as urns and espresso
machines.
Things
you can do to mimimise the risk.
- Wear
an apron to protect your body.
- Use
automatic food lowering devices if they are provided.
- Make
sure all equipment that contains hot fat is covered when
not in use.
- Ask
your employer to install a gravity feed chute so you don't
have to handle hot waste and cooking oil
